Alliance For The Localization Of Railway Technology

about us

The Railway Technology Localization Industry-Academia Alliance is based on the collaborative strength of the "Railway Technology Center" at National Kaohsiung University of Science and Technology. The Railway Technology Center at NUK has been dedicated to railway technology research and development for many years, assisting in the localization design and manufacturing of various railway components in Taiwan. Over 210 items have been implemented in the operation of the railway mainline system, and at least 45 patents have been obtained, demonstrating a significant level of development experience and effectiveness.

Given that Taiwan's railway equipment has traditionally relied on foreign imports, facing challenges such as different systems and incompatible components, domestic manufacturers have found it difficult to engage in economic production. This has led to constraints in railway maintenance and equipment component supply being subject to foreign control. To reduce dependence on foreign equipment, identify key projects for gradual localization, align with the national forward-looking infrastructure and industrial development, and enhance domestic independent research and development capabilities, are the alliance's goals for development.

The Railway Technology Localization Industry-Academia Alliance will assist in integrating resources for railway system engineering research and development. It will bridge railway operation companies, system equipment suppliers, and component manufacturers. It will guide the development of products closer to the needs of operational companies on the supply side, allowing the introduction of domestically produced advanced system equipment. It aims to support domestic enterprises in the most accurate and economical ways, producing stable and reliable equipment. Through the alliance, the domestic railway system and component development technologies will be disseminated, allowing the domestic railway system to be operated autonomously.
